Weekday Wardrobe began with a pair of trousers that fitted at the waist and not at the knee, and a size chart that gave a letter instead of a number.

The range here is deliberately narrow: two cuts of stretch ice-silk trouser with a covered elastic waist, in the same plain colours, and a cable cardigan light enough to wear through a working day indoors.

Every listing starts with the three measurements that decide fit. Waist, hip and inseam are given in inches for each size, along with the rise and the width at the hem.

Fabric behaviour matters as much as the numbers, so each page says how the weave hangs, how it washes and whether it can go in a dryer. Nothing in the range needs ironing after a tumble.

Orders placed before the daily cut-off leave the next working day, and one national carrier handles every parcel.
